Castellón Gravel Race 2027: date, course and qualifying
The Castellón Gravel Race starts and finishes in Llucena, in the hills inland from Castellón. It is a UCI Gravel World Series event and one of the first qualifiers of the year for the UCI Gravel World Championships. The 2027 race is on Sunday 21 February.

The Castellón Gravel course
This is a climbing race. The 2026 long course covered 97 km with about 2,500 m of climbing, and the climbs are long and steady rather than technical. The UCI course notes for 2026 list a short climb out of Llucena, then climbs of about 6.3 km at 5.4%, 9.4 km at 3.8% and 8.2 km at 3.8% that tops out at 886 m. The race finishes with a steep kilometre at around 10% back in town, cresting just a few hundred metres before the line. Pacing the long climbs well decides most age group results.

Qualifying for the Gravel World Championships
Under the current UCI Gravel World Series rules, the top 25% of riders who start in each age category qualify for the World Championships, and the first three always qualify. You need to finish to qualify. The 2027 Gravel World Championships are part of the combined UCI World Championships in Haute-Savoie, France.
